Hearts of Oak’s Communications Director, Kwame Opare Addo, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the behavior of fans of Bechem United during their Ghana Premier League match over the weekend. Although the Phobians were defeated narrowly by a spot kick converted by Hafiz Konkoni, the conduct of the fans is what has caught the attention of Addo.

In an interview with Happy FM, Addo stated that such behavior from fans is not promoting the Ghana Football Association’s agenda of “Bring Back the Love.” He added that confrontations in the stands are not being handled properly, and club officials are being threatened, which does not reflect well on Ghanaian football.

“Bringing back the love of Ghana football, as led by Mr. Okraku, requires us to talk to those who are assisting in this endeavor. It is not the fact that we are fleeing and being defeated that is terrible, but rather how these things occur,” he said.

Despite the defeat, Hearts of Oak remains fourth on the Ghana Premier League log with 42 points, five points behind leaders Aduana Stars. The Phobians will now turn their attention to their 28th league match of the season, where they will play away at Tamale City on Wednesday.

All in all, it is important for fans to conduct themselves in a manner that promotes the growth and development of Ghanaian football. The Ghana Football Association’s “Bring Back the Love” initiative is aimed at fostering a positive and safe environment for players, officials, and fans alike. It is incumbent upon all stakeholders to support this initiative and work towards creating a conducive atmosphere for football to thrive in Ghana.
